Annabel Melongo - A victim of malicious prosecution and wrongful incarceration
Annabel Melongo was charged with computer tampering. A few years later she was arrested under the Illinois Eavesdropping Act. The Illinois Eavesdropping Act was found to be unconstitutional. The act made it a felony for someone to record a conversation unless all parties agreed. Melongo spent two years in jail after being charged under the statute for recording a Cook County court official over the phone who she believed wasn’t carrying out her duties properly. The Judge dismissed charges against Melongo. Melongo was found not guilty of computer tampering in a direct verdict on July 29.
