Gabriella is an associate attorney who joined the Bonjean Law Group in 2023, having previously interned with the firm as a law student in 2019. At BLG, she is actively engaged in all aspects of litigation, with a notable focus on research and writing.

She began her legal career as a civil litigator in California before transitioning to civil rights advocacy in New York City. Gabriella has litigated against the City of New York in high-profile wrongful conviction cases involving the misconduct of Detective Louis Scarcella, as well as numerous false arrest and police brutality cases.

Gabriella, a California native of Mexican-American heritage, developed a strong passion for racial justice and equality rooted in her family's immigrant experience in America. This passion guided her through college at Santa Clara University, where she majored in political science and minored in history. Upon graduating, she attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she distinguished herself as an editor and published author in Loyola's law review.

During her time in law school, Gabriella's passion for criminal defense and post-conviction work flourished through internships at the Illinois State Appellate Defender's Office, the Federal Defender's Office, an externship with a federal judge in the Northern District of Illinois, and of course, through her internship at BLG. Gabriella sharpened her litigation and writing skills during her internships at the State Appellate Defender’s Office, where she assisted in writing appellate briefs and post-conviction petitions, and at BLG where she assisted Bonjean with motion practice and discovery review.

Gabriella is a member of the bar in the states of New York, California and Illinois. She is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the Northern District of Illinois, General Bar.
