Larry Hoover

Larry Hoover, the founder of the Gangster Disciples, has spent more than five decades in prison for crimes dating back to the early 1970s. In 1973, Hoover was convicted of murder in Illinois and sentenced to 150 to 200 years in state prison. While incarcerated, he was later charged federally for operating a continuing criminal enterprise and, in 1997, received additional life sentences.

For years, Hoover has maintained that he has transformed himself and renounced his past involvement in gang activity. The Bonjean Law Group now represents Hoover in ongoing post-conviction and clemency proceedings, seeking relief based on his rehabilitation and decades of positive institutional conduct. Though his federal sentence was recently commuted, Hoover continues to serve his state sentence as his legal team pursues further avenues for relief.
