Courtney Black

Courtney Black joined the Bonjean Law Group upon its creation in 2007, offering her already well-honed skills as a criminal defense litigator. A 2006 graduate of the Brooklyn Law School, Black is admitted to the bars of New York, New Jersey, the United States District Court of New Jersey and the United States District Courts of the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
A diligent attorney with extraordinary perseverance, Courtney has already demonstrated a unique commitment to representing the accused and those less fortunate in our society. As a member of the Brooklyn Law School's Safe Harbor Clinic, she successfully obtained political asylum for an immigrant from the Himalayan native of Bhutan. Courtney was also fortunate enough to study under prominent criminal defense attorney, Gerald Shargel, Esq.
Prior to Joining Bonjean Law Group, PLLC, Courtney gained broad experience in criminal law. She first worked as an intern with the U.S. Attorney's office, gaining hands-on experience in a variety of state and federal prosecutions.
Following law school, Courtney practiced criminal defense with a New York City law firm, working on cases ranging from murder to white-collar fraud. She handled court appearances, legal memoranda, client interviews, and other matters, for such notable clients as Jayceon Taylor, better known as rap artist "The Game."
Courtney received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech where he was a member for the school's Division I women's soccer team. She is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina. She now makes her home in Manhattan with her two dogs, Jinx, a spoiled pit bull, and Treo, a precocious three-legged Rottweiler.
